Yoga: Beginners to Sport Specific

Yoga comes into people lives at different times and for a variety of reasons. It maybe  because of a demanding job, yoga is the perfect  stress relieve, maybe you have young children and need an hour of you time just to switch off. Yoga is accessible to everyone, all ages, abilities and it is never to late to start.

Busy classes can often be intimidating, and class times don't always fit with your lifestyle so one to one sessions are the perfect way to  introduce yoga to your life.

As a beginner the session would include:

Basic postures focusing on strength and flexibility

How to get in and out of postures safely,

Become familiar with props to increase range of motion

The sessions can be tailored purely to suit your ability and goals and whether yoga becomes part of your daily routine, or you practice once or twice a week you will soon be  reaping the benefits.

From Golf to surfing, martial arts to cycling yoga  compliments all sports. Yoga works on strength, flexibility, balance, agility, endurance and core. In sports often injuries are directly linked to lack of flexibility, poor core strength and misalignment. By including yoga in your training routine yoga helps alleviate tightness, helps to build a stronger core, aligns the spine and can prevent recurring or the possibility of new injuries.

In the private sessions we focus on the areas that will specifically benefit you, creating a stronger durable body and calm mind which in turn will enhance the performance in your sport.

"I think that it depends on the person, but yoga, like surfing is a long-time endeavour and the longer you do it, the more you learn about it. You understand and realise how much more there is and how little you really know and how you are just barely scratching the surface. I found after searching and seeking different things that I started to view surfing itself as a yoga practice, although not in the traditional sense. That said, I feel the entire act of the surfing process, not just riding waves, but everything that goes into surfing, is likened to yoga. I think that in that process, in the proper frame of mind, we can come to know our higher self or what we might call divine or God."
